The EVS project - Think Global and explore Cartago - will take place in the city of Cartagena (Murcia), it is basically comprised of two main EVS activities, which are in collaboration with four different programs: T-LA (Alternative Free Time Activities for Young People), ISAC - Cultural Activities Program, a program for protection of indigenous plant species and a Language Exchange Program in which the Socio-cultural Association "HACEDORA" coordinates the actions and participation of the volunteers. It's a group EVS project which involves the participation of two European Volunteers, a girl from Italy and a Polish guy - 19 and 22 years old and are currently students. The duration of the EVS Activity is 9 months, from the 15th January to the 15th July 2015. This project will have two distinct sides that will, however, complement each other well. One objective is to educate and inform the population of Cartagena of the importance of conserving and protecting native flora, the other is to foster a social space for the organisation of cultural exchanges and to create a European dimension on all levels, working with democratic values, youth participation in our society, European citizenship, etc. all are aspects that help the development of a greater European awareness. The volunteers would participate in different projects and places: facilities of the Department of Youth (city council) educational centres, local social centres, in countryside of Tallante (habitat for some native plants), the Laboratory of the School of Agricultural Engineering(university), in the nurseries of the Agro-Food Experimental Station Thomas Ferro, etc. Among the activities planned for the young volunteers are: _Talks and Workshops in education centres (schools) and Social work associations on the production and conservation of native vegetation in the municipality of Cartagena. _The planting of nurseries of native plants, both in the field and in the lab; , specifically the species ASTRAGALUS NITIDIFLORUS, a local plant in danger of extinction. _Participation in a local network of people to promote the protection and conservation of native plants involving the resident English-speaking population in the area of Tallante. _Participation In youth activities and Programs of the Youth department of the city council (Mandarache, Implica2, Language Exchange, working with High schools etc). _Participation in awareness campaigns and dissemination for the good use of leisure time (poster design, information, etc.). _Planning, Organization and development of alternative leisure activities aimed at young people. _Organization and participation in learning and teaching languages in a context of non-formal education, exchanges and inter-cultural dialogue. It also aims to organize and participate in cultural activities to help young students from other countries to meet and immerse themselves into the local community.
