The World's Coloured Glasses
Date du début: 1 déc. 2011,

Youth For Understanding (YFU) organisations work around the world in about 50 countries work to prepare young people for their responsibilities and opportunities in a changing, interdependent world. Although the main tool used by YFU to accomplish these goals are long-term secondary school intercultural youth exchanges, YFU organisations are looking to have an impact on youth who do not have the opportunity to go abroad and are from disadvantaged backgrounds. “Coloured Glasses” refers to the well-known analogy of sunglasses which represent the cultural filters through which we observe and interpret reality. For a decade, workshops in Coloured Glasses manual which are tailored for both teachers and pupils and use interactive non-formal education methods have been used in some European countries. In the project The World’s Coloured Glasses 15 volunteers from Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Sweden and Turkey will spend a year abroad in another of those countries and conduct Coloured Glasses workshops in schools. They will aim to reach out to young people with fewer opportunities and provide them with intercultural learning opportunities in the school setting. The project will furthermore produce an updated version of the Coloured Glasses manual, suitable for European, Asian and Latin American cultures, promoted online via a website and volunteer blog.
