“THE SOUND OF LIGHT Exchanging tools and abilities for an innovative and inclusive youth strategy” answers the need to further explore the field of disability, targeting different activities to youth and social workers, young people and youth deaf and hard of hearing. The project is based on a detailed needs analysis run in the involved European countries on the situation of young people with disability: indeed even if the number of activities where they can participate growth in the last decade, it’s still hard to match the available projects with the amount of requests. For this reason the project aims to further develop the quality of youth work in the field of disability, by providing participants, youth and social workers, as well as young people with and without disability, with new working methods to run new inclusive initiatives and projects. The project include: 1 training course, which will involve 33 youth and social workers, 1 EVS short term, involving 6 youngsters deaf and blind, 1 Advanced Planning Visit, which will involve 4 group leaders and 1 youth exchange, targeted to 32 young people with and without disability. The involved countries are: Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Greece, Czech Republic and Romania.During the whole project methods coming from the non formal education will be applied and promoted: it will be encouraged the horizontal exchange, the active participation, the creation of individual and group learning processes and the learning by doing. In the youth exchange will be proposed a joint methodology including non formal education, theatre and outdoor activities. The project will foresee the achievement of the following outcomes: development of new interactive tools and methods to enhance the accessing and inclusion of different targets; encouragement of the youth active participation; empowerment of young people and development of their skills and competences; networking at national and European level within civil society and voluntary service organizations in the field of disability; implementation of new deep rooted activities, run by the young people themselves and targeted to other youth of the same age to make sensitisation about disability and to promote the idea of “different abilities”.
