"THE SOAP MAKING PROJECT "is a youth exchange which will be implemented in Thassos island Greece, for 8 days and will involve 30 young unemployment participants (18-30yo) from 6 European countries, Latvia Turkey,Greece, Spain and Esthonia and Bulgaria. In the frame of the exchange the young participants will learn how to make handmade soap. The most used and purchased product after food, is the cleaning products. Soap of all kinds(liquid or bars)is used for dish washing,clothes , house cleaning, bathing etc. There are mainly two ways of making soap, based on fat and a lot of ingredients to combine with(aromas,colour, oils etc). In the last years handmade daily use products, made by biological and organic materials are very popular in the market. Small and medium businesses are producing excellent quality products in local and European level. "My Soap" will provide the youngsters with the required training, about soap making as well as sales and promotion methods. All together we can find sustainable solutions against the youth unemployment and we can inspire the youth taking new entrepreneurship initiatives. The aim of our project is through non formal educational methods and practice, to empower the youth and guide them to entrepreneurship and self - sufficiency. Through the planned workshops they will develop their knowledge, their self confidence and self reliance. Meanwhile their social circle will be benefited by the results of the project. The outcomes of the project, is the learning of making handmade soap with natural products and the dissemination of the results in the local community in a special event organized by the participants. During the project the participants will create an on line guide about soap making, trying to influence more young people. The participants will have the chance to work in multi cultural groups, come in contact with the locals and enrich their knowledge about soap making and sales. After the end of the project they will be able to share their experiences and their new knowledge with their communities and make their start up business.
