Montessori’s name is synonymous of high quality education and GRUF few years ago started with the application of the Montessori principles to adults with the aim to improve its quality in training adults for foreign languages. This is a very new methodology: researches carried on 9 EU countries has demonstrated that this application does not exist anywhere else.
Bilingualism and multilingualism are a common occurrence in today's world. Many bilinguals and multilinguals or polyglots in multilingual population centers receive speech therapy for acquired language problems or aphasia as a result of neurological damage. Serving these bilingual and multilingual aphasic patients involves theoretical and clinical challenges for speech therapists. This course THE SELF-REGULATED DEVELOPMENT OF MULTILINGUALISM proposes a multidisciplinary framework as a strategy to overcome such difficulties. Particularly, the proposed approach, guided by the possible interactions among culture, cognition, and language in adult bilinguals, draws from various disciplines, such as sociolinguistics, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and ethno psychology, to formulate procedures that would increase diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic effectiveness with bilingual and multilingual aphasic patients.
We want to get the best Internacional experience and innovative techniques to work directly with multlinguism:
- New teaching technologies;
- Effective use of Internet resources and interactive technologies in the learning process;
- Working with the filming;
- Use of social networks in the learning process;
- Cross-cultural approach to learning / teaching;
- Self-regulation theory basis;
- New methods of work with multilingual persons;
- psicoeducativo-Montessori method on adults.
For our participants it will be perfect opportunity to increase their competence in such specific field at European level, to learn new teaching methods and tools and to increase capacitate of our organization. Of course they can also increase language competence, curriuculum and ITC competence.
Our organization plan is to expand activities for resolving logopedic problems of multilinguizm, the provision of information about what are the possibilities for those who have problems with speech on two or more languages.
In our work we are going to be widely using eTwinning platform as a platform to share experience with all the Latvian partners (we have direct cooperation with many schools, Universities and other educational institutions). We have webpage, were we publish all the news and announcements about local and international seminars, congresses, etc. Since we were planning to not only take pictures but also film our workshop sessions, we will have the unique opportunity to share the material with all who will be interested and, if necessary, to answer questions through our webpage.
All persons, involved in this application, will be a members of LLA. They must have Graduate degree in Speech and language subjects or in special education. They must be practice logopedists and so they need new knowledge about multilingualism, bilingualism and connected with them speech and language disorders because it is very actual problem in Latvia. They must have basic English language and ITC use experience. After course they as a members of LLA must be ready to organize public lectures and share new skills and experience, received during the project.
We plan to share and provide information to colleagues, distribute video materials and publish it on home page www.logopedi.lv. Perhaps the information will be held in the form of workshops and other forms of presentation or demonstration. Since our work involves education not only Riga, but also in all Latvia, it would be quite a wide range of adult educators. Possible preparation of publication in the local and specialized magazines and materials for the academic and scientific work. In addition, we are ready to share the experience with all the teachers using the site www.viaa.gov.lv
We will share new methods of education, so as non-formal education with our colleagues as a master key for modern education for adults. If we have a tool for better work with people with speech and language disorders, for whom it might be very hard to find strength and motivation to look of help, we will be able to achieve these results in our work, which can go beyond our imagination. This concerns mainly our organization and the target group. Our association will have a great opportunity to strengthen the capacity and participate in the educational process.
