The Power of Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue

The project “The Power of Inter cultural and Inter religious Dialogue” will be implemented in Yerevan, Armenia and it will have one main activity - it will be 7-days (11th-19th June 2016) training course for youth workers and youth lieders and will bring together in total 30 people. 8 partner organizations from 8 different countries are taking part in the project: from Albania, Armenia, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. This project has been developed by the participants of the training course “European Cooperative Youth Network for Non-Formal Education” (2014-3-TR01_KA105-014208). Believing in the effectiveness of non-formal education, the creators of this project took this initiative to contribute to the mutual understanding among different cultural/religious communities within Europe. Within this context, this project aims to explore the methods and practices for better inter cultural and inter religious understanding and to equip the participating youth workers with necessary competences to use relevant tools and methods in their future work. The objectives of this project are to: • Make the concept of cultural and religious diversity better understood by exploring the situation at national levels and at European level.• Encourage and support use of non-formal education as a tool to raise the awareness of cultural and religious differences, current political situations, movements and events and encourage critical thinking among young people• Share tools and methods among youth workers, trainers, volunteers etc. that can be applied in their work with young people • Rise the debate on reasons why young people from Europe join extremist groups (e.g. ISIL, PEGIDA, etc.)• Discuss on the media manipulation same as role of media in building public image and perception of religion, mainly focused on Islam• Encourage and support networking among participating organizationsNon-formal and informal learning methods will be used throughout the training course. Participants will not only learn from the trainers; a participatory learning approach will be adopted. Exchange of practices, experience and knowledge will be one of the essential components of this event.After the project, the participants will be expected to be able to use the acquired knowledge and experience in their future work. This project also aims to serve as an example for the participating organizations which have the capacity to develop similar projects in their future work. Digital products are also expected to be produced during the training, so that the Internet and other tools can be used for the dissemination of the project results in a wider spectrum.
