The Department holds cooperation agreements on participation and volunteering with more than 40 social organizations in the area. The project is located in the volunteering unit whose main aim is the promotion of volunteering and solidarity initiatives, among the youth and the total university community, motivating the comprehensive participation in the different activities that includes: support the diffusion of volunteering programmes open, participate in the introduction of new volunteers, dynamize of workshops, design of activities aimed at youth empowerment, support the intergenerational programme, assistance for students with desabilities, participate in environmental, social and health awareness projects. They will be invited to participate in planning and assessment meetings concerning the various activities and in those dealing with volunteering recognition and encounters. A space will be provided for volunteers to suggest and develop proposals they would like to carry out. With respect to the results and the anticipated impact on the one hand, the project will help to improve their voluntary personal and social skills and allow them to get more experience in implementing projects aimed at increasing the role of active citizenship and improve the participation of youth in promoting a more livable world. Salamanca hosts student population of various countries and volunteers may be in contact with different cultures. Moreover, information on the project will move to the different entities that collaborate to be known and to spread among local volunteers. It is a means to encourage other organizations to participate in the Erasmus+ program. Volunteers will know volunteer groups of the university community and support the dissemination of its work among many young people living in Salamanca. The University is a source of potential European volunteers. The benefit in the long term is that such initiatives greatly favour the youth support to the construction of a united Europe in which the exchange of information and action facilitate communication and understanding between different countries, and greater social cohesion.
