The Key
Date du début: 1 mai 2016, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Key is an Erasmus + project that resulted from a collaboration between Zghazagh Azzjoni Kattolika, Limerick Youth Services and Björknäsgymnasiet. Its purpose is to reach out and share experiences in mobility projects with vulnerable young people especially early school leavers. The main aim of this project is to give the opportunity to all the participants to experience a real definition of culture and creativity and gain skills such as entrepreneurial skills and new digital competences. Such topics help the individual develop further in life and also increase their employability skills. The issue of youth unemployment is an issue that is being highlighted in various EU countries. Early leavers from education and training are a high-risk group. Creativity is one of the main tools to deal with this challenge. Creativity is often coupled with entrepreneurship to highlight the need of creative solutions also in the field of economy. Young people should be encouraged to think and act in an innovative way. Since the beginning of the economic crises of 2007, creativity has been seen as a major personal skill to deal with challenges and demands. Flexible thinking and creative ways of problem solving are seen as the appropriate approaches for today's globalising world. Furthermore, creativity is a human capacity that enriches the personal life, enables the person to meet daily challenges, and fosters cooperation in society. The links between culture, economy, education and creativity were topics of diverse conferences in the last years. After several discussions on the needs of the young people we decided to create this project on those lines, because we believe that such projects are key to ones development for several reasons. The project consists of five main activities. The first activity is an advanced planning visit, which is vital when a project of such a scale is taking place. The second activity is a training for youth workers, during which they will identify methodologies how to work with vulnerable young people, and how to identify their individual needs. The participants of the training will be encouraged to explore the theme of culture and creativity, through entrepreneurial learning and by using different digital competencies. The idea behind this second activity is to encourage teamwork and collaboration between those involved in the exchanges with young people, and also include sessions in preparation for the upcoming activities. The other activities consist of three youth exchanges for the young people aged between 16-19. With regards to the objectives for these activities, we aim to improve their learning performance by increasing a sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, improve their digital competencies and explore the theme of culture and creativity. We aim to empower the young people to participate actively in society and the groups they form part of. By this project they will be encouraged to improve their language competencies and enhance their inter-cultural awareness. The methods proposed are of a non-formal and informal nature including workshops, games, case studies and so on. This project also aims to increase the collaboration between partners in the EU countries, help respective programmes improve and be innovative by sharing ideas and good practices. This will help make local programmes more effective and attractive for young people. We are also aware of the importance of non-formal education and would like to use this experience with young people as an example of non-formal education, which is recognized and valued even in the job market.
