CVO HIK offers contemporary, innovative and high-quality education that responds to the needs of the broad Kempen region and those of the learners. Thanks to this application, we want to achieve our mission with the help of our international network. From learners’ questionnaires, interviews with graduates, contacts with interested adults at open door events and info-sessions we learn that the demand for qualified, actualised courses is huge. Especially adult learners digital photography (DF) and woodworking are massively requesting this. For DF, adults want to learn how to take pictures while travelling or crossing the street during a city trip. For wood, learners want to be trained to work with modern equipment and machines. The teachers of these departments are also demanding to learn from the European experts for a creative approach (digital photography) or from the expert himself (the builder of the machine for wood processing). Our centre therefore supports a team of teachers to learn to use new machines (wood) and new technologies (digital photography) by giving them the opportunity to learn additional skills, given by European experts. In addition, this project allows the school to strengthen an international network that we want to reinforce in the future. The exact purpose of this project is the following: -Teachers of digital photography learn how to take artistic and striking pictures with a normal camera while travelling or walking down the street, with limited resources and time, with a given light balance, in a lively area, without a tripod. -Teachers of wood learn to use specialized machinery for technical proceedings and skills, that are required in the course-goals. - To build an international networkThe staff trainings in Italy are practically prepared and organized by EGInA, a known partner, who will be the practical coordinator and tutor. They will act as an intermediary facilitator for this training. For each department we delegate 1 teacher per site where we offer the course, 1 department coordinator and 1 director. WOOD: (4p) 3 staff members will receive training at Master Wood Woodworking Technology. The department coordinator being himself a teacher, belongs to the teachergroup. They will receive training in the processing of wood and furniture, with specialized machinery, to learn the skills for all technical operations such as profiles, sawing, milling grinding, ... Additionally, they will be trained how to restore, ad ornaments, stares, letter carving. The department coordinator maintains an overview of all skills and course goals. He develops a scheme to integrate the new technologies into all existing courses and discusses this with the experts. The participating director is coach of the department of wood and will discuss with the company what materials are needed, what investments. She will be looking how to organize the courses per location, how to adjust the teacher assignments, the division over the buildings, how to distribute the needed materials, etc. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (6p): 4 teachers will receive training from Via Industriae, an organization for contemporary digital art and photography. They will be trained to take representative and artistic pictures with an ordinary camera/smartphone, without tripod, in specific situations, light conditions, with the technical limitations of a travel camera. The accompanying director, a former teacher of photography, can discuss the eventual purchases, how the courses can be organised, including excursions, adapt teacher assignments, ... The department coordinator will integrate the teaching of new skills in the other courses of DF (horizontal and vertical integration) so that each learner will be well prepared to start the new courses. All the acquired skills and expertise will result in actual courses and contents and innovative working methods, by using sophisticated devices / machines. The new course offers will meet the demands of the two departments and assure the training of skilled adult learners, ready for the job market. It is important to offer high quality courses that inspire other departments to also broaden their skills through international expertise. Thus, the participating team will set up an in-service training for all teachers in DF and wood to successfully pass the learning content. In addition, the job shadowing helps the school to strengthen their contacts with the local partner schools, with whom we share the buildings, as well as with the regional organisations and associations, which rely on our expertise to assist them at events by taking pictures for a reportage. These mobilities are part of a broader international strategy, which our school will develop to further professionalize the staff, to receive and prepare new mobilities to permanently update the curriculum for these two but also for other departments, to assure the organization of high-level vocational training programs.
