The project aims to put together 18 young people Italians and Romanians, aged between 14 and 26 years for 7 days in Ciocanari village, Romania to learn through the marvellous world of Circus about them, their limits and how to overcome them for facing more easily the actual challenges in continuing their studies and finding a job. Half of the participants are coming from families with economic disadvantage or from remote geographic areas that make difficult for them to continue their studies. Also there are some youth that graduated university and after more than one year they still did not find a job. The youth exchange will take place in Ciocanari village, Dambovita district in Romania which is a region with low economic development and very low employment offer. The project aims to gather all these type of youth at risk on the labour market and through the social circus tools help them to know themselves, to develop talents, to get to dignity and self-esteem, for moving positively in reaching their goals. Using non-formal activities and assisted by professionals in circus activities they will put in place a social circus play using forms of drama like pantomime, role plays, improvisation, non-verbal communication. The young people participating in the project will be involved in all the stages of the project: preparation, implementation and dissemination. They will learn about the world of circus and its specificities in Romania and Italy by doing internet research and brainstorming, workgroup activities, discussing with professionals from a school of circus and one association that performs social circus for and with abandoned children and other non-formal activities: games, role plays and discussions. They will make up a mini-circus show and will play two circus shows for the children of the local community. The expected results of the project are that the participants get aware of the European citizenship by discovering new cultures, the Italians discover the Romanian culture and the Romanians will discover the Italians' one, improving their skills and competencies in communication - non-verbal and verbal - creativity, strengthening values like solidarity with those with fewer opportunities and friendship, increasing their sense of initiative and self-esteem. They will also acquire a better awareness of the European project and EU values and will get an increased motivation for taking part in future projects on a longer term like EVS in order to help them to develop further their skills helping also others to know about the EU projects and EU values. The impact will be a better chance for them to get more easily a job in an European labour market characterized by major gaps between the educational offer and employment vacancies and to get a job appropriate to their educational backgrounds and talents.
