The c.i.p.h.e.r: The community international progressing hip-hop evolutions and revolutions - youth exchanges
Date du début: 1 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Why? Taking up your responsibility and accountability as an artist, active agent for social change and representative of Hip Hop culture, this is what The c.i.p.h.e.r (The community international progressing hip hop evolutions & revolutions) is about. The two youth exchanges (Berlin, Germany, November 2015 & Antwerp, Belgium, April 2016) are part of this larger project that will take part from September 2015 until June 2016. The youth exchanges offer us a liberated space that is connected to our values and interests and support us to be artists with impact. Spaces where we can create, exchange and learn freely with other youth locally, nationally and internationally that can lead to a lifelong network. Spaces that bring us back to the roots, elements and true purpose of Hip Hop. What? During two youth exchanges of 5 days each, we get the chance to explore and discover the expression of Hip Hop culture in another country and city. We expand our cultural and self-awareness by being hosted by other youngsters from another culture, uncovering our similarities and differences, our challenges and dreams by creating songs and performing together. How? 5 days of exploration, connection and creation with a variety of activities from getting to know each other, to free styling, sightseeing, songwriting, recording and performing based on thought provoking themes such as history, identity, relationships, ecology, community. Who? The project ‘The c.i.p.h.e.r.’ and the two youth exchanges are for youth between 13 and 30 years of age who will be supported by project mentors and by the project consultant spiritchild (Hip Hop artist and pedagogue from New York, USA) and project coordinator Dorien De Vidts (learning & development professional and singer-songwriter, Belgium). Benefits? It will allow the us (1) to build close working relationships and international connections with other youngsters, youth workers and community members, (2) to explore and expand cultural awareness of a different city and country for youngsters who visit or to host other youngsters and be an ambassador of the region and country for the youngsters who are hosting, (3) to practice skills such as event and travel planning, (4) to work together as a team and create something (song, video-footage) together during a limited time span, (5) to reflect, communicate and report back about a possible once in a life time experience and to use this experience to grow as an artist.
