BaltPrevResilience is created as a response to the multiple everyday accidents that occur in the Baltic Sea Region. The project aims to prevent such accidents and reduce their impacts by improving the prerequisites for collection and analysis of impact and response data at the local level. The project will do so by introducing a process to establish a common understanding of statistics, evaluation of experiences and sharing of evidence based knowledge and best practices.The project will organize three thematic seminars. These seminars will address multiple aspects of risk prevention mechanisms such as the identification of best practices and gaps, awareness raising, resilience building, comparability assessments, and cost-benefit examinations.The project will contribute to the development of everyday accident and disaster prevention policies, for both man-made and natural disasters. This contribution is of significant importance at local, national, Baltic Sea Regional and EU levels.The expected project results are:• Improved collection and analysis of impact and response data from everyday accidents• Decision support at local, national and EU level with common knowledge, accident profiles and identified best practices• Better community awareness and resilience in BSR Achievements: • Knowledge Base and dataThe work in Task one started in February and ended in September 2014. The objectives of the work in Task one were to create a common basic understanding of available statistics and evaluation experiences in the field of everyday and escalating accidents.By sharing knowledge and best practices in the field of learning from accidents and accident prevention the project partners established a useful base for further project activities and posibilities to fulfill the project overall objective, - to prevent and reduce the consequences of everyday accidents and disasters or crises.
