In the project “Thaj amen sijam sar tumen! We are also like you!“ 30 young Roma nd non-Roma from Macedonia, Germany and Czech Republic came together to remember the Roma Genocide during National Socialism, to fight against antigypsyism in Europe and to fight for human rights. The one week lasting youth seminar in Mannheim (Germany) started with a visit in the permanent exhibition on the Roma Genocide in the Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg. We aslo had a discussion with the chairman of the Central Council of German Sitni and Roma, Romani Rose. Furthermore we visited the memorial place of the former concentration camp Neckarelz, where we received a lot of information on the prosecution of Sinti in that area of Germany. We developed some creative tools (Video, Comic, Diary) to portray our emotions concerning past and present racism. At the same time, this should strengthen the self-esteem of the participants as we could produce some material outcomes (video, comics) for public presentation.
