The project “Ten years of EVS …an important goal and a new challenge!”, lasting 9 months, will take place at association of social promotion ONLUS "IL PORTICO", located in Dolo (a small town on the Riviera del Brenta, near Venice). The association has been providing its services and developing many projects in this area, since 30 years. Not only does it try to offer immediate and cooperative help to needy, but it also aims at removing the causes of discomfort and social exclusion. It will involve two boys (18 and 19 years old) from Hungary and Germany. The project aims to deal whit multilevel intercultural awareness, promoting an European culture of solidarity and active citizenship, fostering the involvement of the EVS volunteers in inclusive actions and stimulating reflection about the volunteering (and European volunteering) as forms to realize social inclusion, sense of belonging and personal growth. The volunteers will take part in the association’s activities, such as: free time animation for differently-able and socially excluded people, welcome and temporary hospitality of people in need, promotion of involvement of young people in volunteering and in the community initiatives such as active citizens. Our organization has been working in EVS project for ten years. The volunteers will be involved in the celebrating activities for this anniversary such as interviews the EVS volunteers hosted at “IL PORTICO” and sent abroad, during this period, to know their own personal course after the European experience; interviews the sending and hosting organizations to know their development in EVS field; interviews the association “IL PORTICO” staff and volunteers; re-elaborating and sharing the results; organization of promotional events (at the schools, volunteering organizations/local associations, institutions) and realization of multimedia products.During this project, it will be adopted methods and approaches of non-formal education and will be respected rules and values of the Erasmus+ program and EVS Chart.Thanks to European voluntary service, the youths will be able to develop their abilities, acquire new knowledges, learn a new language, gather useful information, suggests and ideas from the other ex-EVS volunteers, know different approaches of intervention in the intercultural debate, social policies and management of human relationships. This experience will have an important impact on personal paths of participants, particularly on their capabilities to evaluate their EVS experience and their future choices.The project effects will concern also the project promoters: hosting and sending organizations. The collaboration among the partners will be consolidated and foster the comparison of methods, exchange of best practices, also the improvement of management and organization. In this way, it will be created more favourable conditions for durable cooperation and future projects. The possibility to host young people, from different countries and therefore with different culture, is very important for “IL PORTICO” because it represents a new opportunity of intercultural exchange, knowledge and relationship that will enrich the human and social capital of the association.The project impact will concern also the local community, especially young people.The volunteers will be involved in the promotional activities and events. In these occasions the volunteers will contribute to awaken the civil society, inform about the European opportunities (in particular Erasmus + Program and EVS project) encourage the intercultural dialogue and active participation in the community. Results and products of the project will be shared with the sending organizations and disseminated in their local communities.
