Achievements: Achievements so far The objective of the in 2005 launched Telemedicine project is to explore the effects on and opportunities for the local planning of health and medical services and housing facilities in urban areas via the stimulation of more efficient and innovative ICT (wireless) based solutions for domestic health and medical care. The main activities in 2005 centralised around two themes: The development and implementation of the management structure and the content development of the project. Activities to operationalise the two themes consisted of an inventarisation of existing Telemedicine instruments in the participating regions, developing the interreagional approach, selection of the pilot projects, designing the communication strategy, signing of the partner agreement and rules of procedure and further deepening of the cooperation framework between the partners. 4 partners meetings were held in 2005, 2 in 2006 each in another city of the partnership. All partners were present during all the meetings thus far. The main results of the first year is the report based on an inventory on operational TeleMedicine instruments in the several regions and an analysis on best practices. This report has formed the base of the two pilot projects in Eindhoven and Southampton which commenced in early 2006. Based on this inventory, suppliers of telemedicine instruments have been selected. Eindhoven and Southampton have drafted a first concept of the local implementation plans which have been approved by the Interregional Steering Committee during their meeting in Viladecans in June 2006. The pilots already initiated activities in the period January - June 2006 and moved ahead during the second half of 2006. Also 5 additional pilots were proposed for funding. In 2007 the pilots in Eindhoven and Southampton where up and running. The project teams met each other every month and the teams are worked on schedule. The pilot project in Southampton was on CHF and COPD. The one in Eindhoven focused on Diabetes. In January 2007 the extension of the project with 5 additional pilots was approved. By the end of January 2006 The hague, Genua, Bologna, Viladecans and The Balearic Islands had their Local Implementation plans ready and during the parrtner meeting in Palma in March 2007 the partner contracts were signed and the first results the additional pilots were presented. In november 2007 during the final conference in Eindhoven all results were presented.
