PROJET
TERMINÉ
We would like to carry out the specific project for the computer technician programme because there are many problems with practical education in the companies for that programme, the students don't learn as much as they should, they often have mentors who don't have time for them and who don't care. The car mechanics are facing a different problem: they have practical education only in one company and they normally don't change it for 3 years. The students are totally inexperienced regarding learning outside of the school and the car service they have practical education at and are unaware of other cultures or work options.
The main goals of the project are improving the students' skills in practical education, to improve their knowledge of foreign languages, to improve their level of ICT knowledge, for them to learn how to function independently and also as a part of an international team, and nevertheless to become more open to other cultures and various work possibilities.
The core of the project consists of 2 mobilities: During the first mobility 10 students from the programme computer technician are going to Malta with 2 accompanying persons for 3 weeks (November 2014), they will be working in companies. During the second mobility 10 students from the programme car mechanic are going to Slovakia with 2 accompanying persons for 2 weeks (March 2015), they will be working at the school's (receiving partner) training center, at their workshop. The computer technicians will be from the 4th and 5th grade, meaning that they will already have 3 years of schooling behind them. The car mechanics will be from 2nd and 3rd (last) year. The computer technicians maintain Software and Hardware, they will test and develop Software, they will learn about the Java programming language and how to program applications, how to be a part of an international project team, basics of economics, marketing and of entrepreneurship... In the afternoons they will get to know the Maltese culture, visit some important computer companies... The car mechanics will be working in the school's workshop and will do car services, everything regarding car maintenance and preparing the vehicle for technical control. They will be integrated into the regular practical education together with their Slovak peers. They will also have the cultural programme in the afternoon and they will have excursions to various car services and to the KIA motors or Volksvagen plant.
First the participants will be picked by a school committee in September, then preparations will start for the computer technicians and everything will be prepared for their stay on Malta (November 2014). Communication between all involved will be done by emails, Skype video conferences, Facebook, telephone, students' and parents' meetings... During their stay in Malta the students will be supervised and evaluated by their mentors and the accompanying persons. They will get a Certificate from the company/school and the Europass Mobility certificate to certify what they have learned. After their return the evaluation of their stay will be done with 2 different poles, the students' knowledge will be tested and the school's project team will meet to evaluate the project. Then the project will go into its 2nd phase: the mobility of the car mechanics to Slovakia (March 2015). The 2nd stage will be the same as the one for computer technicians. Dissemination will be done throughout the whole project. The project will finish in June 2015.
The expected results are broadened knowledge of the students in the field of practical education and other fields, improvement of the students' language and ICT skills, improvement of the students' individual and team-work, and discovered ideas/options for different ways of work and possible ideas to work abroad . Personally the students will become more independent, more self-confident, open to other environments and cultures, disciplined, hard-working, more motivated to finish school, more focused on their goals, which will make them more competitive at the labor market.
The project will have long term benefits for the students because they will be more competitive at the labor market and they will be more successful in life, they will discover new work possibilities. Our school will benefit a lot, because the participants and the accompanying persons will share their knowledge and experience with other students/work colleagues, work at school will get easier done and the students helped, the interchanging team members will improve the communication on the school basis, more employees will be enthusiastic about the projects , the school will get more enrolled students , future project mobilities will get improved and with the partners more future cooperations are possible. We would also like to address the companies in the 2 sectors to improve practical education on a local/regional basis.
