Technical Education on Resource Savings for Industrial Development

TERSID is a regional project, to be carried out in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, focused on the renewal of some curricula for the engineering field, to introduce more modern and efficient technologies to be adopted for saving of natural resource (raw materials, fossil fuels, water) as prevention action, or for wastewaters, solid wastes and air pollutant treatment as reduction action. The project will involve partners coming from academic world, industries, National governments and NGOs.The educational aspect is focused on two different levels: academic and professional. The wider objectives, with the respective outcomes in brackets, are:1. dissemination of the EU standards in HE in Central Asia’s countries (introduction of a Regional credit system)2. creation and development of an education network among academic partners, using the renewal of common modules, specific for the resource savings and pollution control and prevention (identification of the modules)3. creation of partnership and cooperation among the partners to create programs that match the industrial vocational and professional needs, both in UZ and KZ (program definition).Specific objectives, with their outcomes, are:1. i) renewal of existing MS courses in industrial engineering fields using European partner curricula and experience of local partners (definition of the programs for modules characteristic of the renewed curricula)ii) organization of LLL courses for active industrial professionals and workers according to the needs of industrial development (definition of a list of subjects/topics to be considered for organization)2. organization of internship programs for students and in cooperation with the partner industries for gaining practical and direct experience (industrial training on the basis of the theory given in the module teaching)3. setting up a Knowledge Platform for Resource Savings at the TTPU for training and retraining of industrial engineers (equipping of the KPRS).
