The project is related to the education and training of twelve (12) teachers of Vrondados Vocational School of different specialties teaching in the School’s Sectors. They teach theoretical and practical subjects. OMNIA, which will be the Host Partner of this project, is one of the most internationally known authorities of vocational education in Finland. It is a multi-sectoral educational organization which offers Upper Secondary Vocational Education and Training for Competence-Based Qualifications. Omnia has over 10.000 students in vocational education and 40.000 in non-formal adult education with more than 700 employees as it functions at six different institutes. International activities are part of Development services InnoOmnia for innovation and entrepreneurship. Our school had the superb experience of cooperating with OMNIA, within the framework of LdV-Partnership, during the 2013-2015 school years.Every activity at a European level upgrades the school’s profile, improving the quality of the educational services offered. The contact with other Organizations and Educational Institutions abroad promotes its international relations. The educational systems being applied in other countries, the different teaching methods, the operating procedures of the students’ practical workshops, the professional practice in foreign countries, the effort of developing language skills and the transfer of technical knowledge from country to country certainly constitute positive elements. The teaching methods both at a theoretical and practical level, drawing conclusions, their assessment based on the European specifications and standards add a European-International dimension to the conduction of experiments and can be applied during the teaching of different subjects at our school’s workshops.OMNIA as an educational organization with its great international experience is able to provide us with excellent services to satisfy our schools’ needs concerning our teachers’ skills and their acquaintance with new modern teaching methods. As a result, our students will be given the necessary qualifications for their future demanding jobs. The teaching methods applied in Finland and the way the Vocational School is connected with the labour market are areas that will add to the participating teachers’ qualifications, benefiting students as well.In conclusion, our school’s needs to be satisfied through this project are the following: European dimension of workplaces, developing language skills, teachers’ communication with professionals from other countries. Discovering differences, similarities, improving, updating. Cultural acquaintance with citizens of another country, exchange of cultural elements. Modernisation and innovations in the curricula and teaching methods. Methods of connecting vocational education with the job market at a national and a European- international level. We believe that through this project essential cooperation between the participants will be developed promoting the local and the national systems of vocational education and training. For the satisfaction of the needs above, teachers will attend theoretical and practical subjects in English and will actively participate in practical training, so that they will understand the teaching methods of Vocational Education in Finland. OMNIA has workshops with excellent equipment adapted to real working conditions. OMNIA will also present methods of making proposals with justified statements towards the National Board of Vocational Education, so that school curricula can be modernized and changed, according to the market demands. Methods which promote the units with the international recognition ECVET will also be presented to the participating teachers of our school. The participants, through the ERASMUS+ programme, will acquire useful knowledge and experience, which will be transferred into the classroom and workshop for their students’ benefit. They will be able to create new subjects, defined by the market demands. The teaching methods used by their colleagues in OMNIA will be the basis for the improvement of the corresponding methods used in Greece. They will also be informed about the way proposals are written for the improvement of school curricula.
