Teaching and pluralism
Date du début: 1 sept. 2014, Date de fin: 31 août 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The fact that it is now mandatory to teach a non-linguistic subject in a foreign language (what is now called CLIL) has aroused the need to form teachers of non-linguistic subjects so as to enable them to teach CLIL in English. The project is divided into 3 stages: A first stage in which the school itself prepares activities and materials ( lessons on CLIL methodology, on research-teaching, examples of maths lessons presented in CLIL mode, on class cooperation and safety). The school will monitor both the process and the results, and will control formative interventions. The second stage will take place abroad and will contextualize teaching with micro-teaching lessons and the creation of comprehension/production activities. The process evaluation will be taken care of by the external authority by means of linguistic certification. The third stage is a long-term one and aims at the valorisation of the experience by monitoring the results achieved by the target group in comparison to the previous school year. The participants’ results and work will then be made public both on a local and on a regional level. With reference to what has been described above, our school is applying for funds to activate stage two, because the school does not own the necessary financial resources. Studying abroad, which is a fundamental part of the project, would give the teachers the opportunity to improve their L2 competence and to critically reflect on their subject as an open didactic research area. It would also encourage synergic work and cooperation both among teachers of the same school and teachers of diverse schools as well as open the school to a European context. The competences which are aimed at are not only linguistic, a necessary vehicle though they are, but also methodological and motivational. After the needs analysis stage, we have proceeded to involve the teachers through questionnaires and meetings aimed at focusing on the teachers’ needs and to choose the most suitable foreign partner in terms of premises and courses available for the achievement of our objectives.
