2015-1-RO01-KA102-014238, Teachers for an Open Vocational School Project has as a beneficiary Technological High School of Tourism Iasi and ADC College London as a transnational partner organisation. The target group was represented by 8 teachers with a vast experience in teaching, concerned with permanent training and who benefited from an exchange of best teaching practices with ADC College representatives.
The aims of ”Teachers for an Open Vocational School” Project, set by the representatives of Technological High School of Tourism Iasi, were the following:
- supporting teachers’ professional training for innovating and improving the quality of teaching, training and practising in the economic, tourism and food industry area, by taking part into activities of direct observation at the working place in ADC College organization, during the mobility;
- improving teachers’ linguistic skills, as a means of promoting a more efficient communication in the educational system, both in the country and in Europe;
- raising among the participants of their level of awareness and reaction towards social, cultural and linguistic diversity;
- a better understanding of the British culture and the feeling of belonging to the EU.
- raising the level of attractiveness and international dimension of the organizations involved in vocational education;
- providing a better recognition of the skills acquired during the period of professional training abroad.
The activities included in the working programme were the following:
• Introductory session about the educational system in Great Britain, with a focus on the vocational field.
• Round table with the following theme: Particularities Concerning Professional Training Offer and Professional Qualification in the Field of Economics, Tourism and Food Industry, in both Romania and The United Kingdom.
• Round table with the following theme: Modern European Methodology of Teaching, Particularities of Learning Based on Real Experience.
• Applied experiment and workshop about preparing an applied example of the applied experiment.
• Debate with the following theme: Overview on CLIL, Methods and Approaches (CLIL- Content and Language Integrated Learning)
• Workshop with the following theme: Applied Methodology in the Fields of Economics, Tourism and Food Industry, With a Focus on Vocational Training.
• General presentation of the CCLS English School departments which are concerned with vocational training focused on its own practical skills resources.
• Case studies about Stages of Practice Management Focused on Vocational Training Providers, Stages of Practice Management.
• Technical visits to hotel units in partnership with ADC College.
• Final assessment of the activities performed during the mobility.
The results have been correlated with those as planned, as follows:
- teachers in the target group participating to Sharing Good Practice – direct observation at the working place;
- writing an e-brochure with information about the project;
- publishing articles in the local newspapers and the school magazine;
- project meetings with the project team and the direct beneficiaries of the project;
- developing a workshop with the students of the school;
- updating the school site with information related to the stages of the project;
- feedback forms filled in by the participants of the mobility, one being filled in by the country manager from ADC College.
The acquisitions made by the teachers as participants during this mobility allowed developing their professional level with an impact on students’ training, which had as a purpose raising the rate of absorption on the labour market and implicitly the living standard of the families they come from. The community will benefit of well-trained working force, according to the European standards.
By implementing ”Teachers for an Open Vocational School” Project, Technological High School of Tourism has become more visible at an international level, stimulating new international partnerships for future Erasmus+ projects.
The participants from the two partner institutions will benefit from stronger professional connections, by using online platforms and social networks, thus being motivated to take part into other similar international projects.
In conclusion, the development of this project has led to raising the level of professional training for the teachers in the target group, and the activities that were developed allowed fulfilling the objectives. The results have stimulated other teachers to get involved into the development of other international projects.
