The project " Teacher Development" will deal with such fields as quality development of staff and school modernisation at Ludza Music primary school that implements general education and obligatory music programme. The aims of the project: - study and improve English language knowledge; - experience a range of innovative activities linking methodology and learning theories of the 21st century classroom; - introduce an awareness of new technology and ICT in the classroom; - increase knowledge of European education Systems; - develop diversity of European cultures by raising awareness of values. 16 (sixteen) active and energetic Ludza Music primary school teachers (a director, an assistant director, 6 primary school teachers and 8 music teachers) will be responsible for the quality of modernisation in education and for the improving of European dimension of school. They were selected by the school management team according to their professional development, their proper desire, development of initiative, inquisitiveness, independence and creative activity at school and a formal written record of the selection procedure is signed. A list of 9 courses the school is going to implement: 1. “English for educators and administrative staff – Beginner” years 2014 and 2015; 2. “English for educators and administrative staff – Intermediate” years 2014 and 2015; 3. "Tap - Swipe - Pinch" (The use of tablets in education changing the ways to learn and teach) years 2014 and 2015; 4. "Tap - Swipe - Pinch" (Learning music with tablets. Changing the ways to learn and teach music) years 2014 and 2015; 5. "Music Course for European Music Teachers in Budapest" in 2014; 6. "The Playground Classroom - Methodology for Primary School" in Malta, year 2014; 7. “One week course for European teachers of music in Gloucester” year 2015; 8. “1 week course for headteachers, teachers, inspectors and other educators: school development and quality evaluation and enhancement in primary and secondary schools” in Southampton, year 2015. 9. "Folklore and Mediterranean culture" in Spain, year 2014. Methodology: All training sessions will be both theoretical (lectures, discussions) and practical(workshops, sessions, role-plays, pair or group work). Both teaching and learning will be explored, analyzed and discussed to improve and use communicative skills in English. An interactive communicative approach will be applied and modern ICT introduced. Visits of school lessons, cultural heritage related to theoretical contents. Expected results: - English language skills improvement; - usage a range of innovative of teaching methods, contexts and developed teaching skills; - awareness of innovative 21 century technologies, ICT and tablet usage in today's classroom; - increased knowledge of European education Systems in Europe; - developed and enriched knowledge on diversity of European cultures and values. Expected impact on the participating teachers: -new inspiration, different perspectives and enthusiasm for teaching their subjects; -more effective teaching; -greater inter-cultural awareness and appreciation of attitudes and cultures of other European countries; -greater knowledge of European Education Systems and CLIL; -improvement of teachers’ English language skills; -bringing positive and long-lasting effects on teachers about Erasmus + possibilities. - a greater understanding of ICT (usage of tablet); - to establish European school partnerships. Impact on participation organisation: • create more modern, dynamic, committed and professional environment inside the organisation; • integrate good practices and new methods into daily activities using modern technologies and tablets; • be open to cooperate with EU organisations active in different social, educational fields; • planning strategically the professional development of staff in relation to individual needs and organisational objectives. • integrate European awareness and diversity of European cultures. Impact on students: • motivate with more attractive teaching ideas and tasks in line with their needs and expectations; • increase students interest, knowledge and respect to European countries; • motivate students in learning foreign languages; • motivate students for regular participation in various activities; • manage students to work in a team, groups, be able to plan, realize and evaluate their work; Potential long-lasting effect: developing of understanding, self-empowerment, self-esteem, communicative skills, thinking positively, strengthen teacher's profession.
