The main aim of this project is to be able to help us identify current trends in the teaching of English as a second or foreign language, and indicate areas for further development or modernisation in our English Language Curriculum, and Drama Curriculum. Number of Participants: 1 Mr Clive Muscat is a Newly Qualified Teacher who teaches Year 5 students. He is interested in learning modern teaching strategies that can be implemented with young learners. Activities: > Attending a professional development course that would help achieve the goals initially set > Liaising with partners from other countries to share ideas and relevant information > Implementing ideas and approaches whenever asked to deliver a lesson on the course > Liaising with tutors on the best solutions/approaches to take to achieve goals set for the project > Reporting problems/difficulties related to the achievement of goals, so as to collaborate with partners to find adequate solutions > Establishing personal and professional short-term goals with the tutors > Monitoring their personal and professional development and reporting back to tutors on their progress > Comparing and contrasting feedback from the course with other participants > Giving regular feedback to tutors about the quality and relevance of the course > Liaising with other participants and the course tutors after the course to monitor and report back on implementation results and progress. Results and potential Long-term benefits: Teachers will gain practical ideas on how to motivate and engage mixed-ability classes; how to plan fun class activities to energize and engage kids; how to motivate and support young learners in their attempts to write in English; and, learn tips and techniques for teaching young learners more efficiently. All this will help to make learning more fun and effective.
