Date du début: 18 mai 2016, Date de fin: 17 nov. 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project is developed on the auditory sensory disabilities context, a condition that greatly penalizes the ability to communicate through verbal language and to acquire information from the outside. The deafness penalize the ability to learn, to keep up with the times, with the changes, with the opportunities, because all of them, in most cases, are transmitted through the verbal, oral or written channel .The deaf person is likely to be cut off, to remain isolated, to be excluded from important opportunities that could promote his personal growth and cultural as well as social integration, education, employment. The project "Talking Hands" arises from the purpose to offer an important opportunity of meeting, exchange and growth for the youngs deaf, guiding and supporting them in order to share with peers from another European country themes related to their disability status and to the communication difficulties that this determines, also referring to the communicative and educational potential offered by the sign language .“Talking Hands" involve 30 young deaf people, between 15 and 30 years old from Italy and Spain. The organization partners are the Associazione Famiglie degli Audiolesi Etnei ( AFAE ) of Catania and the Arans-Bur of Burgos. The exchange theme is: the deafness and the sign language in Europe. Aims of the exchange are the comparison and exchange of informations about the auditory sensory disabilities (early diagnosis, educational methodologies, educational and social integration) and, at the same time, the promotion of language marked (natural communication system for the not hearing people).Specific objectives of " Talking Hands " are the followings:• about the topic and content of the project:- to obtain information about: social and cultural reality of the partner countries; deafness in different countries (social integration , training opportunities , employment , services offered by public institutions); use of sign language by deaf people; strategies, methodologies, tools used in the context of Italian and Spanish for the education of young deaf people.• about the personal development of the participants:– to promote the equal opportunities; to stimulate discussion with peers who live in different countries; to gain self-confidence; to share moments of aggregation; socializing experiences; to promote the ability to work in teams; to promote the language and culture of the deaf people; to develop knowledge and skills.• about the objectives of the Erasmus:– to develop an European identity; to acquire information about rights and opportunities; to raise awareness in society about the problem of deafness; to promote a positive attitude towards other cultures; to convey the concept of " Europe " in the local communities involved; to experience new learning opportunities throughout life; to promote the social integration of young people and their families and encourage their spirit of initiative; to strengthen values such as solidarity, democracy and friendship; to promote the cooperation and solidarity among peoples.Scheduled activities engage all the participants: Spanish and Italian. They will be supported and guided by the leaders of the two associations. Specifically, there will be :- Activities " in the classroom ", carried out through participatory methodologies (working in groups, simulations, role plays, elaboration of posters, debates) .- Cultural excursions and guided tours .- Social and recreational activities and free time for comparison / exchange .- Tasting of typical Sicilian traditional food, show organized from the young participants (traditional dances of the original countries, sketch, mime), meetings with local authorities and representatives of the institutions .These activities stimulate discussions and mutual understanding about customs, traditions, legends. The theme of the exchange, the deafness and sign language will be approached from an intercultural and crossed prespective; that promotes feelings of tolerance and openness, values the differences and fights prejudice and racism. Another result of the project is to prevent that young people with disabilities are excluded from training, employment, social opportunities offered by the European reality and to make them feel fully fledged citizens of Europe .Effects of the project, of course, are not limited to young people involved into the initiative, but have consequences also at local level (also the families of the young people, the local authorities, the organizations and institutions of the territory will be involved), because they introduce the concept of Europe in the social context and promote a more aware and positive attitude towards other cultures. They also sensitize the socio-cultural reality of the problem of deafness, promote the integration of young people and their families and encourage the spirit of the initiative.
