Tackling Workplace Bullying for Adults with Learning Disability or Difficulties - Let me be me (Formerly Twobad)

Aims and ObjectivesThe Let me be me project aims at providing a research-based training toolkit on tackling the workplace bullying of Adults with Learning Disabilities or Difficulties (ALD/D) for employers, trainers and support staff. The training toolkit will include background information on the problem, its nature and the extent in Europe, current projects, initiatives and approaches to tackling workplace bullying, best practice Europe-wide as well as practical guidance and resources for trainers working with the target groups of people with a learning difficulty/learning disability, employers those working in field of supported employment. It will also include a Trainee's workbook, specifically designed for ALD/D.The toolkit will be practice-oriented and aims to prepare trainers and employers for working with a range of different target groups.Although there is extensive research on workplace bullying in general the number of studies that focus on workplace bullying of adults with learning disabilities/difficulties is small, where country-wide initiatives have been launched many focus on children. Currently there is a lack of information on how to support adults with learning disabilities/learning difficulties, employers and supported employment organisations. The TWoBAD projects strength lies not only in its innovative approach to tackling the bullying issue amongst the target group but also in the diversity and experience of the six partners representing three organisations who are delivering services for people with disabilities, one University, a centre for Educational research and a specialist multi-media consultancy SME. Each partner has been specially selected for:- Their specific VET expertise- Experience in working with people with learning disabilities,- Experience in the delivery of European funded programesThe overall tangible outcome of the project is the creation of a training toolkit focusing on workplace bullying of people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties. This training toolkit will be used by VET organisations, employers and supported employment organisations, to equip the target group with the skills not only to combat bullying but to identity what constitutes bullying in society today. The impact of the project in the short term is that it will produce a training toolkit producing online learning facility content based on written existing materials targeted at people with learning disabilities, which will be marketed effectively through networks including the European Union of Supported Employment and its member countries and through implementing thorough dissemination and exploitation plans. In the long term it is envisaged that bullying incidences will be reduced and the target group will have acquired new skills through participation in the training toolkit on how to deal with bullying, thereby helping assist their integration into the labour market.
