Sustainable Ways to Increase higher educatioN students' equal access to learninG environments
Date du début: 1 déc. 2013,

The SWING project will create sustainable policies in Universities to enable disabled students to have equal access to learning environments and programmes. Partners will collaborate in the development, selection, procurement and use of accessible IT and accessibility standards that will be available through the Accessibility Centres in Partner Countries (MA, EG). More specifically, the project aims to put into practice the EU e-accessibility policies that help achieve greater levels of Web accessibility across the Partner Country Universities’ Services for the benefit of disabled students. Firstly, a needs assessment along with a survey on Accessibility Centre best practices will be conducted, with the scope to design and develop a proper model for Accessibility Centres in Partner Countries. The results of these surveys will be discussed during workshops in MA and EG. Local needs and regulations will be taken into consideration. A specialised e-learning environment will be designed including training seminars for academic staff and other experts in the EU on Accessibility Centres. Additionally, there will be a strategy of establishment, modernization, reform and trial testing of Accessibility Centres in Partner Countries. Each university will integrate into the existing learning environments “Assistive IT” systems. Partners will organise local seminars for Partner Country Universities’ academic and support staff in order to inform, engage and train them in accessibility policies and mechanisms. A user centric approach will be followed, where disabled students will be involved in all stages. Dissemination and networking (using traditional and social media) will promote the project's outcomes worldwide. The exploitation and sustainability strategy and activities are key to the success of this project. Project management supported by quality control system will be used as “umbrella” activities so as to ensure the smooth progress of the project’s workflow.
