Sustainable Tourism Research and Intelligence Partnership (SUSTRIP)

The purpose of SusTRIP is to plan and implement a series of research activities which will help the 2 Seas area to further develop an economically successful tourism industry. This new strategic network between tourism and education partners from each country in the zone will enable the project to build on previous studies by each of the partners, each of which is keen to improve and sustain tourism in the region as a whole. SusTRIP will create a lasting legacy via a new Knowledge Platform which will provide long term research support to the partners beyond the duration of the project. Partners will feed the platform with findings on identified tourism products, on measured industry performance, and on the needs of the incoming visitor and the host community. Special guests from all members states are invited to the Research Forums and all the studies are published on the website so all member states can benefit from the resultsWhat are the effects / outcomes for the territories involved?The long term effects and outcomes include better managed and more succesful tourism events in the 2 Seas Region, better tourism link with the host communcities, improved accessiblity for visitors, new forms of visitor communciation and interpretation using the latest technology developped, better informed and more successful tourism business in the 2 Seas Region, more sustainable tourism investment in the 2 Seas Region, and increased understanding of the contribution of tourism to economic, social and envrionmental agenda.
