Fjolbrautaskolinn vid Armula has introduced a Sustainable School Policy Declaration in its school curriculum with the goal topromote the civilian activity of students, to strengthen their values, their attitude towards protection of nature and theirenvironmental friendly lifestyle, to promote their understanding of democracy and common responsibility, to strengthen theirvalues towards human rights, equal rights, cultural diversity, welfare and health, economic development and future vision and toencourage their joy for creativity.The Sustainable School Council (SSC) is responsible for implementing the sustainable policy declaration in all parts of the daily school life. The council agrees on a Sustainable Management and Activity Plan (SMAP) for one year at a time. The SMAP contains measurable goals and indicators which will be used to evaluate the work. The council publishes at the end of each school year a report with the goals, indicators and the results of the evaluation.For the coming school years the SMAP emphasizes on a high diversity of teaching methods and assessment of students work., innovative education tools, multicultural education and quality management.The project includes two training events, a training course on New teaching and learning methods, a conference and workshops on Innovative education tools, schools visit to learn about multicultural education in the Netherlands and a two weeks job shadowing in cooperation with the school leadership of the Ralleio General Lyceum in Piraeus, Greece, on Quality Management and Sustainable School Development.All training courses and the schools visit will be attended by five participants each activity, four teachers and one other member of staff. All participants are chosen by the school leadership in cooperation with the SSC and relevant heads of departments. The quality manager of the school will go to the Ralleio General Lyceum in Piraeus, Greece, for job shadowing.The project will have impact on the variety of teaching and learning methods and the use of innovative education tools, the integration of students with another mother language and multicultural education and last but not least lead to a quality management plan as part of the Sustainable School Development.The long term benefit will be education for a sustainable future in equal cooperation of students, parents, teachers, school leadership and other members of staff. It is of great value for the school to have different groups work together to increase sustainability and make people more aware about it in society. The project will also benefit the surrounding environment and give the school more opportunities to work with and council other educational institutions on sustainability in school environment. The project will hopefully also have a deep impact on how students (young people) adopt sustainability to other aspects of their lives.
