Context/background of project
We focus on Sustainable development as a theme for staff competence, quality development and internationalisation.
The sustainable development aspect is especially important to us and can be seen in our everyday work. For many years, we have been working towards a more environmentally friendly school. Step by step our organisation has become more and more concsious about how our actions have an effect on the environment and strive towards finding a sustainable alternative for all the things we do. Along the way we have found ways to be more environmentally friendly in all our everyday activities such as get "green" electricity, use electrical vehicles, create recycling centrals and use environmentally friendly school supplies. We also buy ecological products, make all the school lunches from scratch and we try to buy local products according to what the season has to offer to avoid long transportations. In addition to this we have developed our own strategy concerning food waste, nutritional value and pupil participation and influence on meals. Thanks to our environmentally aimed work concerning food and food handling, this year, as the first ever nominated school restaurants in the Nordic countries, all the Fridaskolan restaurants have been awarded the Nordic Ecolabel.
It's stime to take another step in an international context to learn more from other organisations and role models for successful concepts concerning the environment and sustainability. We need new insights, good ideas as well as the acknowledgement from others that we are on the right track towards the goals we aim for.
We would like to make our pupils more involved and interested in environmental issues. We would like to create a pupils' council for environmental topics and develop our methods and ways of thinking via international contacts. To connect to schools in other countries and learn from each other would be a fantastic next step. Both for staff and pupils. An international context, a good contact and the possibility of a future exchange digitally as well as in real life will most likely be inspiring for everyone to continue the work on this topic.
We want to find new international contacts in the above context of sustainable development, increase our understaning of the living conditions for young people in Europe as well as what their thoughts are about their own life in general.
Our overall aim is to launch new pedagogical thoughts in teaching and new didactics for efectiveness in reaching the educational goals and a greater wish for individual development.
As pedagogs we want to contribute in such a way that the new contacts found at the In Service Training Courses will generate new connections and new angles and perspectives to look at the EU citizenship and the adults of tomorrow.
What is required in order to keep the future generation interested in getting an education, set higher goals or merely attend or look upon the school as the place to be for education?
All 12 participants in the IST courses regardless of their specialisation in Natural scinece, social scienc, English, school management will be representative and role models to enhance both work with sustainability as well as internationalisation.
Sustainability should be the basis of all our actions, consumtion, choose school supplies and how we make the pupils awareof these choices.
There will also be special weeks and aimed days with themes such as Environmental work , some also with health aspects.

The theme will aslo be presented and used for parental meetings and evenings and open doors' events.
We believe that we have a lot to learn from each other in different countries and wish to establish international contacts in order to cooperate further in our everyday school activities. Our wish is further that this will lead to an exchange at each other's schools and/or continuous digital cooperation and communication also on the sustainability theme.
