Sustainable Learning Networks in Ireland and Wales (SLNIW)

The aim of SLNIW is to improve the economic development of South East Ireland and West Wales through the creation, development and utilization of self-perpetuating, self-learning, sustainable networks among SMEs. Objectives • Have 1 (one) overall collaborative training project that will enhance the training needs analysis and learning skills of SME owner/managers in South East Ireland and West Wales• Establish up to 6 (six) sustainable self-learning, self-directed networks (three in Ireland and three in Wales) - To enhance the system of learning and work force development in 40 (forty) SMEs in Ireland and Wales (20 in Ireland and 20 in Wales)• Ensure that this joint collaborative project facilitates SME owner/managers gain access to key resources in higher education with a view to enhancing the competitiveness and innovativeness of their enterprises• Equip up to 40 (forty) SME owner/managers with the tools and guidance to assist them to develop holistic learning plans for their enterprises, taking cognisance of the needs of immigrants and disadvantaged people within their enterprises.• If the SMEs have on average 2 (two) employees there will be up to 160 beneficiaries receiving enhanced education, training and development as a result of the SLNIW project• Design an innovative, defined, documented process and model that can be used in the development of other self-perpetuating, self-learning, self-directed, sustainable networks• Develop cross-border links between enterprises, higher education organisations, and enterprise support agencies in the South East Ireland and West Wales• Support closer cooperation between South East Ireland and West Wales• Support closer cooperation, collaboration and team work between Waterford Institute of Technology and Aberystwyth University
