The project "Social entrepreneurship for sustainable growth" reacts to the current situation of youth unemployment in Cyprus and Spain and has the aim to introduce the principle of social entrepreneurship as a possible solution to both the employment and the social situation in these countries. The objective is to give the target group, young unemployed academics, the necessary skills and knowledge to make starting up their own social enterprises possible. The project will involve 12 young persons from Cyprus and Spain who belong to the target group as well as other young persons, local stakeholders and institutions. In order to reach the aims of the project the 2 groups will implement a series of activities including the development of ideas for social businesses and the creation of business plans. The activities of the project will last for 11 months from October 2014 to August 2015 and they will further include research into the topic of social entrepreneurship and sustainable growth, interviews with local stakeholders, workshops, visits to local enterprises, dissemination and evaluation activities. The project will implement 2 transnational meetings with workshops, visits, discussions, open presentations and evaluation activities. The expected results apart from the tangible products of the project such as the blog, the business plans, reports etc. will be an increase in skills and knowledge for the group implementing the project but also for their peer group. An increase in creativity through the development of business ideas, the transfer of good practices and entrepreneurship through the management of the project, the implementation of the activities and the creation of business plans will also be a result of this project. These skills will be transferred and supported by the actual involvement of the group of participants in all the phases of the project following a learning by doing methodology. The expected impact of the project will not only reach the central group of 12 persons but will spread to their peers, relevant stakeholders and institutions giving ideas and information about social entrepreneurship and the chances it presents for unemployed persons.
