Our Project has been prepared within the scope of Erasmus+ Youth Programme under partnership of Turkey and Italy. The project activities will be realized between 15th and 29th September 2014 in Kahramanmaras upon participation of 24 participants. The earthquakes, which may happen at anywhere around the world, threatens all livings things and causes loss of life and property. Several measures, which may be taken in order to be prepared against a possible earthquake, may save the lives of so many people. To raise awareness of public at every segment of the society is one way to minimize the impact of a possible earthquake and the loss of life and property. Conscious steps must be taken before, during and after earthquake in order to minimize the damages of a possible earthquake; and awareness of all individuals must be raised. Turkey has been identified as the ?most dangerous country? with the greatest fault line on the earthquake risk map of Europe, which was issued within the scope of ?Share? Seismic Hazard Harmonization in Europe, which was established by the European Union in order to investigate the earthquake risk in Europe upon participation of earthquake experts from 11 EU countries. And Greece and Italy comes after Turkey in this risk map. Turkey is located on Alpine-Himalayan earthquake zone, which is one of the zones where earthquakes occur frequently. According to the Earthquake Regions Map, 92% of our country is within the earthquake zone and 95% of our population lives under earthquake risk. Kahramanmaras Province, where the project activities will be implemented, is located on 1st degree earthquake zone on Eastern Anatolia Fault Line. The local administrations in the region as well as various academicians foresee an earthquake in near future. Italy, one of our project partners, has been identified as one of the most risky regions within the scope of the studies on European Seismic Hazard Harmonization Programme. Within this scope, our project, which will be conducted under partnership of Turkey and Italy, aims to equip the youth with the physical strength, social support, and sense of control, self-confidence, cognitive talents and ideas to cope with disasters. In line with this purpose, project activities will be conducted on natural disasters, dangers and disasters before, during and after earthquake and any measures to be taken against such dangers and disasters in order to minimize the possible damages of an earthquake. Project activities will also include practical studies, establishment of earthquake simulation room, presentations and discussions regarding the issue, drama and enacting activities and investigation and assessment methods.
