SUNIVOT - Supporting Numeracy in Vocational Training

The SUNIVOT project seeks to enhance the learning achievements and employability of adults with low levels of numeracy skills by first auditing numeracy skills requirements in four specific vocational sectors (hotel and catering, business and administration, health and social care and hair, beauty and holistic therapy) and then further developing a range of assessment tools, vocationally specific training materials and a gateway for a new European Numeracy Network. Project outputs will include both research outcomes and new assessment, learning and communication tools. The European skills audit will identify, within the selected sectors, the current training requirements for numeracy skills. The developed and piloted tools will be made available via a dedicated website and will include, for each sector, a numeracy assessment tool, learning software, a training of trainers programme and range of communication tools to support network development. Following the piloting phase, the tools will be finalised for use on-line or via CD-Rom in all partner languages (DE, EL, FI, SV, EN & LT). The new European Numeracy Network will be mobilised to publicise project outcomes with the help of briefings, press releases, articles, case studies, a video and the project website. Government and other decision makers will be updated regularly and presentations will be made at regional, national and international conferences as well as at the final project conference. The developed tools are expected to be able to be transferred to other vocational sectors.
