"The culinary Austria" The austrian cuisine is considered unique, because it forms a hotchpotch of cultural influences from historical time, but also from the present. This reflects the diversity of society itself. The Austrian cuisine as an objekt of study is also an exploration of history and politicts, of economy, culture and language. The seminar reflects this diversity. Literature and art are dealing extensively with food and drink. Espacially in connection with food and cooking these many facets are evident in language, an institutions such as cafes and markets represent a historic and culinary image of Austria. In the seminar there will also be an opportunity to visit a Croatian wine grower in Burgenland, which will be an excellent opportunity to get to know a piece of Austrian history. The seminar also provides concrete suggestions for implementing the topic in German lessons with an emphasis on interdisciplinary cooperation. Contents: Language and diversity Food in literature and painting City guide to culinary routes Cafes and markets - reflections of food culture Wine culture and wine pleasure The Croatian minority history Nutrition and cooking: How do these relate with the Austrians? Methods: Lectures. panel discussions, work in groups, projekts, guided tours, private studies. Participants: Danish and foreign teachers.
