In the MOTEFIK project participated a total of 20 students form the Craft School Split, in a 2 week professional training in companies and craft businesses organised by partners in Padua Istituto Ruzza an TECNA scarl. This project is a continuation of cooperation with the Italian partners in the mobility projects which previously saw participation of teachers from the textiles and leatherworking sectors. This year, the project made it possible for students from the field of fashion/clothing technician vocations to cooperate with Istituto Ruzza, and students from the field of beautician and hairdresser vocations to cooperate with TECNA. 10 fashion/clothing technicians (belonging to four-year programme), 5 beauticians (also belonging to four-year programme) as well as 5 hairdressers have undergone professional training in fashion companies (fashion and tailoring salons, furriers, exclusive salons for custom made tailoring), hairdresser's salons and beauty salons. Three teachers (one from each profession) have monitored the students during their mobility, and have participated in preparations for dissemination of the project.
Professional training took place between 25.10 2015 and 07.11 2015, with an additional two travel days to and from Padua, Italy. A total of 14 different businesses and companies ensured the possibility of implementation of this training, and have contributed greatly towards the fulfilment of this project's goals. The students have enhanced their professional skills under the guidance of their respective mentors (owners or workers in said businesses which have been in charge of mentoring and monitoring). They also participated all activities outside of working hours (cultural programme, daily analysis of the day's activities, noting the experience of the students as well as their own). All employers expressed their very positive opinion of the students, who proved to be very serious and focused at the work at hand, especially motivated, punctual in their arriving to work and who behaved in accordance to the rules and regulations of the companies, wore proper work clothes, communicated well with other employees and improved their skills on a daily basis.
Business owners and mentors have, through their actions and with the effort of all participants, contributed to the fulfilment of the project goals. All participants improved their professional skills in their fields of work, they obeyed the rules of their occupation, workplace and have been on their best behaviour. Participants were introduced to new techniques and technologies, in which (by the testimonials of the employers) they became skilful. Fashion technicians worked in renowned fashion salons and have been involved in custom making of clothes, and their construction. Hairdressers enhanced their haircutting and dying techniques, as well as familiarised themselves to the latest trends and natural products. Beauticians got acquainted with new techniques and methods in facial and body care and products in use i Italy.
The project was implemented in several phases, in accordance to the application. The preparatory phase was made up of administrative work (signing of contracts, preparation of the call for participation, forming of the selection committee, selection of accompanying teachers who were a part of the implementation team according to the professions of the students), gathering and ranking of the participation applications, and final selection of participants. In this phase linguistic and cultural preparations were also held, students were acquainted with the programme of their mobility, what are its aims, what is expected of them, what are their obligations etc. Several teacher-parent meetings have also been held, during which the parents have been introduced to the afore mentioned details, and especially to the EU funding.
Partners in Italy have found companies/businesses which have requested students' CVs with the emphasis on the professional skills. The companies/businesses have been briefed about competences of the students so as not to assign students to overly difficult or complex tasks in which they have no experience. Companies/businesses have sent a list of required working apparel for the students as well as the code of conduct. A detailed working plan was developed for each student according to their professional experience and according to the business area of the company. The Companies have, together with the school signed a document regulating the training process where the areas of work have been defined, working conditions and monitoring of the students.
School made accommodation arrangements together with the partners as well al the local transport and cultural programme, which was paid by the school for all participants. Remaining amount of individual support was forwarded to the participating students. Travel and health insurance has been procured and paid for from the organisational support funds.
