STRATEGIES FOR INNOVATIVE EDUCATION OF THE EUROPEAN CULTURAL HERITAGE.

"LIVING HERITAGE" is a project of cooperation for innovation of a partnership strategy for the school education among 7 partners from 5 countries: Slovaquia, Estonia, Greece, Spain and Portugal, led by Diputación Provincial de Palencia (Spain). Aims to:- Strengthen the profile of the field of formal and non-formal educators. - Promote the pedagogical update of teachers with peer teaching method. - Design a curriculum, methodological strategies and innovative educational materials for the transmission of the cultural heritage, especially valid to facilitate teaching in disadvantaged rural areas , the learning of students that underachieve , in groups with high diversity and/or schools with early school leaving issues. - Create links between school and public and private entities, related to the management of the heritage. - Develop educational experiences to promote intercultural and intergenerational exchange of material and intangible heritage. - Connect the European heritage through schools using ICT tools.Direct recipients are educators in the field of formal and non-formal education. Will also be involved: educational authorities linked to the local, regional and national heritage; associations of entrepreneurs and companies related to the formation and cultural tourism; managers of heritage; heritage interpreters; cultural and heritage associations of rural areas, etc and the school pupils that will put into practice the obtained results. In particular: 175 accessions will contribute to the stakeholder project and a network of contacts with more than 450 potential direct beneficiaries, plus 170 indirect participants in the course. A network of experts will be created to support the evaluation of the results. ICT will enable the participation of 2200 indirect beneficiaries, 240 multiplier events with the creation of the results under open license, OER,and we are estimating other 2375 indirect beneficiaries.LIVING HERITAGE is based on a collaborative methodology among professionals in the field of formal and non-formal education and the participation of the stakeholder to develop the following activities:1) Creation of working method among peers in workshops. 2) Development of a school curriculum on cultural heritage. 3) Elaboration of a methodological guide for work on cultural heritage. 4) Preparation of educational materials for the implementation. 5) Seminar on dissemination and evaluation between teachers and authorities. 6) Multiagent broadcasting day. 7) Transnational face to face and remote meetings and other coordination tools. Under the common guidelines to follow, the development of intellectual products is structured in 5 thematic areas: I.-ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE. II. HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC HERITAGE. III.-POPULAR ARCHITECTURE. IV.-ETHNOGRAPHIC HERITAGE. V.- INTANGIBLE HERITAGE.The results of LIVING HERITAGE will translate into: 1) the methodology for peer learning, Curriculum, methodological guide and educational materials available in 6 languages, validated by the competent authorities and accessible to educational centres, managers of heritage and socioeconomic fabric related to the cultural heritage in Europe. 2) creation of networks of communication between defined direct and indirect participants. The main expected impact is to serve the real needs of strengthening of the profile of the educators in the area of cultural heritage, especially for those working in disadvantaged rural areas, with groups of students with poor school performance, high diversity and educational centers that actively fight early school leaving.Long-term benefits: 1) The creation of licensed OER results will allow its use, extension and improvement by professionals and the education and heritage agencies. 2) Support to educational strategies generated by the educational authorities of the 5 countries to incorporate them into the educational curricula of primary and secondary schools and their use in the non-formal sector.3) The internationalization of these educational curriculums look for their practical application in European and international networks of communication, such as EUN Communnity or ELOS "Europe as a Learning Environment", the Association EUROPA NOSTRA and bodies linked to the UNESCO's education (OIE "Office ofinternational education ", IUAL "Institute for lifelong learning" that also promotes non-formal education (IUUTIE "Institute for the use of ICTs in education").All because we need to make a more understandable and educational European cultural heritage, we must "revive it" and "live it" and turn it into a point of community interaction.
