Story line approach – cooperation between vocational schools´ students and the world of work

The purpose of the project: The project is designed to meet a high demand of vocational schools as regards linking theory with practical experience of students in their respective field of study. So far, such possibilities have been very limited in Czech, Slovak and Polish schools, although the practical experience of students is in highest demand in the labour market and helps students to be successful when seeking employment. Cooperation that was taking place between Czech vocational schools and the real world of labour in the area of energy-saving in 2009-2011 showed strong interest of schools which have been undergoing a reform aiming to incorporate modern teaching methods in the field of sustainable development.Main aims and objectives of the project: The aim of the project is to transfer experience with a didactic method (developed by vocational schools based on a real assignment including practical examples of energy-saving) to vocational school system and expert community in Slovakia and Poland. In addition, pilot testing of this method was carried out on 30 student groups and 120 attendees from expert community in three countries (CZ, SK, PL). Based on the pilot testing results the methodology was innovated and incorporated experience of all the three partners. The new methodology is described in 4 languages and its dissemination was ensured among vocational schools and other relevant target groups in the VET field in all participating countries.Characteristics of a consortium that implemented the proposal:SEVER (CZ) is a project submitter, coordinator and an author of the innovation which is a subject of the transfer.SOSNA (SK) is an expert organization having more than 20 years´ experience in the field of environmental education, counselling and promotion of sustainable solutions in practice. MiLA Foundation (PL) specializes in creating networks for cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of environmental education, business development and activating local communities.A general description of tangible and intangible outcomes:Project outputs: quadrilingual manuals describing a potential way of introducing an innovative method into vocational school lessons as well as a manual about introducing practical savings and renewable energy sources intended for expert community. In addition, more than 300 students and 30 teaches got training in the area of energy saving and renewable energy sources. The impact envisagedTransfer and adaptation of this method to the Central European educational context met the demand of vocational schools (cooperation between students and the world of labour).
