On the competitive job market young people need practical knowledge and skills which will enable them to readjust to employers’ demands. Thus, it is necessary for students to undergo vocational trainings abroad which will provide them with a whole new set of professional skills and competences. The main aim of this project was to develop the key competences concerning the job market and to place a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship involving a practical communication in the English language. The project was aimed at juniors, sophomores and seniors students of economy of a technical school. A core group of 15 students was chosen. They participated in a two week training in a vocational training centre in Plymouth in Great Britain. The students developed practical, professional skills tailored to the current needs of the job market, built up self-confidence, increased the mobility of students and improved their Curriculum Vitae to further their future employment prospects. During the vocational training in Tellus Education Group placement students broadened the knowledge and honed their skills in running the office, self-presentation, bookkeeping and other aspects of business such as marketing and promotions. Students had the opportunity to apply prior and new knowledge in practical situations, develop proficiencies in independent thinking and collaborative problem solving. Teachers served as advisors. Participating in extra-curricular English classes and living in host families gave trainees additional opportunity to develop the English language competence. Additionally, the teachers, also acting as guardians, prepared a professional English e-learning course (http://elearningzsi.pl/login/index.php) which is shared among all interested and the course will be used during regular classes as well. The participants received Europass Mobility certificates in Polish and English which are recognised in all European Union countries.
