Our project which title is “The Vocational Training in Italy is the Best Way of Successful Career at Work” fits to expectations European, Polish and regional jab market. This market needs a high qualified, open-minded and tolerant worker with knowled of foreign languages. This worker should deal with specific conditions at multicultural European societies. Zespół Szkół Nr 1 from Ostrowiec, organization which sent students and Sistema Tourismo organization which received them and 16 students from second and third classes from our vocational school with 2 teachers were taking part in this project. Students lernt how to be excellent cooks and workers at the hotel and other catering companies. The main task of the project was to give them the opportunity to take part in the training at the hotels and restaurants or catering companies in Italy for 16 students. The whole time of the training were four weeks – 28 days. The main aim of the training abroad was to rise quality of vocational education in Poland, better preparation for taking a job in professions for which our students were taught, to raise their linguistic competence, to enrich their experience in difficult kinds of employment and to give them possibility to better start in their careers. This training was also very important factor for recruitment new students to the Zespół Szkół Nr 1 in Ostrowiec, to our native school. It had big influence to the amount of new students attending to our school. Apart from that, our students had a chance to know expectations and work conditions in other country, to demonstrate their creativity and to show their ability of cooperation in multicultural society. The assumption of our project is also increasing the participants’ mobility and in this way increasing their chances in the job market - counteracting of unemployment. The training abroad forced the students to learn foreign languages: Italian and English, to compel them to break down language barrier and to use the acquired linguistic skills in everyday communication with people of other nations. Our project was secure the advantages connected with personal students’ development, the voyage abroad and four weeks of independent functioning at work and at a place of accommodation. It became the opportunity to try to live in other European country, to work in multicultural environment, to strike up new friendship or contacts which can help the students to find a job in the future after the end of education. Our project allowed the students from Poland to develop European identity, a tolerance and open- mindedness. Our project came into being both by Zespół Szkół Nr 1 and SISTEMA TURISMO. It allowed our students to acquire knowledge and abilities which are needed in European job market. These skills are for example: the ability to organize the promotion campaign of a hotel and restaurant, an efficient communication in Italian and British languages , preparation of the occasional events and catering service at the events. Partner from Italy familiarized with tourist offer of our Świętokrzyskie Region. Experience which participants acquired in Italy can cause increasing of quality of catering and accommodation service in our region. Certificates which the students received during the training can be a proof of their attractiveness as workers for their future employers. The training was helpful in their self-employment in the field of tourism in rural areas for example. Project refered to the priorities described in National Plan of Development in Poland and to the Strategy of Swiętokrzyski Region. Our Region is one of the poorest and the least developed region of Poland with a high degree of unemployment. However, Świętokrzyskie region is very attractive in the terms of nature and culture. Unfortunately, this region possesses very weakly developed tourist background. Highly qualified staff in the range of tourism and a catering will be very important factor for better development of Świętokrzyskie Region. Taking everything into account , project “The Vocational Training in Italy is the Best Way of Successful Career at Work” was a great chance for young people from our region to acquire new abilities and skills. It gave them greater sense of self – confidence. It can be helpful in their personal development and professional career. This project was an opportunity for students from Swiętokrzyskie Region to achieve real success in the job market both abroad or in their native country.
