Stärkung der Kompetenzen der Lehrkräfte im Bereich CLIL und europäische Identität
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium has already profited from cooperation with partners across Europe in recent years. For the project in the 2015 Key Action 1, special emphasis is placed on strengthening didactical and pedagogical skills related to Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) due to the ongoing implementation of CLIL. The highest respective class will reach the 8th grade in the upcoming year We consider intercultural competences and the European identity as very important aspects of CLIL. Thus, we also want to strengthen teachers' understanding of European democratic awareness and possibilities to incorporate these ideals into their everyday teaching. For us, a two-fold approach seems optimal. Through training courses, four participating teachers get a better understanding of current academic developments of CLIL research and the academic discourse of the possibilities of a better student participation. This understanding will then be used in job shadowing which will help teachers reflect and evaluate the chances and advantages of aforementioned skills. Through this combination of academic discourse and school practice the skills of the participating teachers are expected to improve so that they can identify which methods and structures that encourage students to participate in decision processes in school an to encourage them to feel more responsible in organising their own learning. Teachers will be selected based on their integration in the ongoing development of CLIL and on their willingness to provide counseling and training courses to colleagues. The project has short term benefits as far as the teaching skills of participating teachers are expected to improve which is a direct advantage for their own students. Intermediate effects include a strengthening of the entire staff due to the multiplication of acquired skills by participating teachers. Long term benefits of the measures are not only the improvement of the CLIL classes but also a better identification of students with the school due to strengthened democratic elements in school organisation. More student autonomy is also expected to help the students to become responsible European citizens.
