SPSELL — Specific Sector Language Learning

Due to the scarce existence of up to date learning materials for work foreign languages concerning the composites industry, verified during training sessions at the promoters’ vocational school as well as by the Spanish partner (paper glossaries only) and the Greek partner (an academic dictionary only, of scarce interest for practical use on the job), the project, considering the importance of such industry Europe-wide, aims at elaborating a programme characterized by blending e.learning courses and in-classroom training devoted to : (1) personnel of the logistics department, production- sales –customer service departments of composites industry (2) students of engineering in universities and training centres (3) unemployed people in training, looking for jobs in the relevant sector. The work languages targeted are English, Italian, German, Spanish, Catalan, Greek. The pilot learning will involve 10 employees of the composites industry in each of the partners’ Countries, duly extracted from the different target departments (logistics, production and sales, customer services) and a number of unemployed students or trainees: for 12 of them it is envisaged also the planning of a mobility abroad. -- OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES: The objective is overcoming the scarcity of materials for learning the work language of the composites industry in foreign languages. The activities are: (1) a survey to detect what is already existing in the matter, (2)the elaboration of the new materials both for e.learning and for face to face teaching,(3) the implementation of the pilot together with the preparation of a mobility for some students looking for job in the relevant sector -- RESULTS AND PRODUCTS: (1)New materials both for e.learning and for face to face teaching (2) e.training via the website for the practical use of the work language of the composites industry in foreign languages. -- POTENTIAL FUTURE: Other industries, according to the requests that will be advanced to the partnership via the project website as a by-product of the activities of valorisation
