Project Get to Know British Language and Society started on 1/6/2015 and finished 1/6/2016. The aim of the project was to improve foreign language competences, enhance intercultural awareness, better awareness of the EU values and better understanding of our own culture. Two teachers of English participated in ADC College course „British Language and Culture“ focused on various aspects of British culture. The emphasis was also given on the ways that technology can be used to introduce and motivate students in the classroom. The participants got access to interesting collection of online resources and tools, up-to-date articles enabling them to discover more about culture. Additionally, teachers received an invitation to ADC forum, letting them keep in touch, cooperate and exchange resources. The course provided teachers with language development sessions as an opportunity to improve their English while being exposed to new ideas and techniques. That was a unique opportunity to meet people from other cultural backgrounds and exchange knowledge and practices in an international setting. It has also helped the teachers at our school increase motivation for organizing and taking part in European projects in the future . After the mobility the participants have used acquired knowledge and skillis in teaching, they have prepared open lessons for teachers of English from our schools. The involved teachers together with other staff and students organized workshop on their mobility and The Week of British Culture - cultural and educational school event open for our teachers, students, parents and public. The school has implemented results of the project into its curricula / it has been created a curriculum of the new elective subject Conversation in English Language/and still supports the permanent development of the other members of the pedagogical staff. The project results were disseminated through web pages, school stands and in a school magazine, on special meetings with parents and presentation days of our school. We hope that the results of the project will have longer term impact on our school, our teachers and students. Our students will get prepared for their life in the European Union. Our long term plan is to cooperate with other participants from abroad on an international exchange programme.
