Project "Spotkania z przeszA‚oA›cią - archeologia dla dzieci" is a kind of National Youth Initiative. Its organizers are students from the Institute of Archaeology at University of Warsaw, acting in Student Science Circle of Experimental Archaeology. Presented project is directed especially to the youngest children, pupils of primary schools, and also to their parents and keepers, which (if they want to), they will can participate in meetings with their wards. The project is offering a modern form of learning – interactive education which allows to gain knowledge in intelligible and attractive way and to remember it longer. The main topic will be cultural heritage and archaeological experiment. Each one planned meetings will aim to acquaint participants with various domains of cultural heritage. The main purpose is popularization of knowledge about the past, archaeology as a science and make people interested in this discipline, especially children. We would like to show that it is possible to learn about archaeology in curious way. Simultaneously, we want to acquaint participants with various domains of our ancestors everyday life and prove, that regardless of location and time some methods were universal and invariable through the ages. We have planned 7 a three–hour meetings in the Institute of Archaeology at University of Warsaw taking place in one Saturday of each month from October to May. At the beginning of each class we are going to introduce the topic to participants – theoretical introduction, then we are going to begin the interactive workshops connected with science experiments. Each person will be able to do it himself or herself with help of coordinators of the project. In this way, we want to encourage the participants to independent ask scientific questions and looking for answers. It allows to simulate creativity and initiative. Through the realization of this project we also want to show, that science does not have to be boring, quite the contrary.
