In addition to Prague, PORG opened a branch grammar and primary school in Ostrava in 2011. Ostrava is a city affected by significant restructuring, a decline in heavy industry, and marked unemployment. The school's primary mission at each branch is to develop young talented children. It does this with an emphasis on the natural sciences and with a high level of study in English as a second language using the certified international program "University of Cambridge International Examinations", which is completed with final exams in order to obtain an IB diploma. This level of education is unique in the Ostrava region; it is rare, greatly needed and opens up paths for young people to study at foreign universities. The school's education program therefore allows for a high degree of integration of English into other subjects through bilingual education. These are the basic points of our project "With a Common Language Closer to Europe). The main objectives are to obtain and increase competence in communicating in a foreign language at an advanced level, the innovation of modern methods of teaching a foreign language using CLIL, and improve intercultural competencies that will lead to the creation of an international exchange project in Europe among our students and students of other European Union countries. One of the many goals of our project is the creation of an electronic textbook for teaching non-language subjects in English obtained from sources that are in short supply in our market, and provide this textbook to other schools and to students of pedagogical faculties. The project will be attended by two teachers of the primary school, who form the foundation for English learning for our youngest pupils, and four teachers from the grammar school, who not only teach ESL courses, but also use English in non-language subjects of the natural sciences and of technical focus such as chemistry, biology, mathematics and geography. The main criteria for the selection of teachers shall be sufficient language skills, readiness to disseminate innovative methods and European ideas to colleagues and students, and the ability to implement new methods and European thinking into teaching. One of the teachers will also be the project manager who will coordinate the project throughout the entire period among teachers, school management, foreign bodies and national agencies. We will organize a total of 7 courses with seven participants: General Language, Get up with Natural Sciences, Bi-Component In-Service Training, Refresher Course in Language and CLIL, The Playground Classroom - Language Teaching Methodology for Primary Schools, Leadership Skills for Teachers, and Exploring English and Culture in Ireland. The project will be implemented in several phases - preparation (training, information gathering, project development, registration, posting requests), execution (preparing quality assurance forms, course agreements, cashflow coordination forms, process reviews, orders, invoices, and communication with other countries), evaluation (auditing of interim and final reports of participants in individual courses and the fulfillment of their commitments, outcomes, billing, dissemination, evaluation, final reports). The resultant effect of applying the acquired knowledge to lessons is an appreciable contribution and synergy to the knowledge and competencies of our pupils and students with regard to language acquisition and intercultural studies. It's necessary to start as early as possible to inculcate children and teenagers with principles recognized as values of the European Union: freedom, tolerance and cooperation. Language skills, understanding of the European environment and work competencies are the basis for flexibility in the labor market, which is the long-term goal of this project.
