SPIDER - International Artistic Project
SPIDER - International Artistic Project
Date du début: 1 mai 2010,
SPIDER - International Artistic Project joins together three cultural organizations: KINITIRAS (Athens, GR), COLLECTIVE LOGE 22, (Lyon, FR) and KINK PEKINPAH (Ljubljana, SI) to create a new model for creating and producing contemporary arts as well as a new model for outreach and audience development and encouraging participation in cultural events. Using a spider spinning its web as a symbol for "structuring a common, trans-national and mobile artistic net" the project weaves a net on several levels: 1) among interdisciplinary art forms: contemporary dance, visual arts, writing, design; 2) among artists from various artistic disciplines and different cultures 3) among audience members and artists. Functioning not only as a conceptual mascot, the spider physically occupies a city square in each of the organiser's cities (Athens, Ljubljana, Lyon) as a large sculptural form. The spider will serve as a teaser, announcing the project to the public and inviting them to participate. Passers-by will be directed to an Internet site where a tri-lingual interactive blog will unfold with a story of a spider the blog functions as both a way to inform the public about the project's events as well as a tool of combined artistic-fictional reflection which will eventually be published in a multilingual (Greek, French, Slovenian and English) book as a new, international fairytale. Components and materials from the spider sculpture itself will then be transformed into props and costumes of a contemporary dance performance. SPIDER project also involves artistic research in each city as well as the presentation of 6 contemporary dance performances on a 4-day festival. Other activities include free dance and visual arts workshops and an exhibition. A group dance work will be created and presented in GR, FR, SI, HR, AT, RS, BG.The Spider project seeks to develop new forms of collaboration, new ways of marketing cultural production, and an intercultural format of artistic creation.
