Needs analysis was conducted among our staff and the current situation was assessed. Thus, we identified the necessity to improve teachers' abilities in developing students' key competences, such as digital and linguistic competences, in order to implement an integrated curriculum.
The aim of our project in to address our teachers' needs, which we plan to realise by achieving the following general objectives: gain new knowledge and improve skills and competences to develop students' digital and linguistic competences; implement CLIL and TEL successfully across the curriculum; enhance innovation, flexibility and creativity of teaching staff; form and activate a team of 12 experts in implementing technology assisted instruction and CLIL methodology.
In order to achieve these objectives, 12 teachers of various subjects will participate in two training courses. The participants are teachers who acknowledge the need of continuous professional and personal development and have proven the ability and availability to share their learning experiences with other professionals in their field and have the necessary communication skills to cooperate, collaborate and work in teams.
The main activities carried out in the project will be: management activities, two mobility activities in Malta, dissemination activities (to inform and train other teachers in our school and in our community), monitoring and evaluation activities conducted throughout the project, assessing the impact, writing reports.
The main foreseen impact will be on learning and learning outcomes of the participants, of our institution, and other target groups. In fact, we expect new perspectives on motivation and teaching approach, the need to develop the linguistic, inter-cultural, social, IT and communicative competences while enhancing the sense of belonging to a big, common, European family.
In the long run, our school intends to create partnerships with other schools in Europe, to ensure a positive image in our community and beyond, to improve our students’ results, to surpass the traditional approach by embracing a European dimension of education.
