Special Education Needs (SEN) Network
Date du début: 1 déc. 2011,
The Special Educational Needs Network (SENNET) brings together ministries of education, specialist organisations and national agencies co-ordinated by European Schoolnet. SENNET focuses on children and young people who find it more difficult to learn than others of the same age from medical or behavioural or emotional difficulties and usually need extra support some or all of the time. The Network takes as its starting point that the potential of ICT to address these difficulties is significant and under-exploited.The Network’s objectives, achieved through research, seminars and collaboration, are:1. To analyse barriers and opportunities to implementing the principles of inclusion of learners with SEN in mainstream schools and document effective approaches for special schools serving as resource centres to all schools2. To design new learning environments that integrate SEN learners, using ICT and digital resources for both access and learning3. To enable teachers, decision-makers and those who support teachers to understand and practise inclusion of learners with SEN in mainstream classrooms, making full use of ICT.By the end of the project, the following outcomes are expected:• Freely accessible studies identifying and analysing barriers and opportunities in integrating learners with SEN into mainstream education, with case studies of good practices, leading to a more open attitude to the issue of integration;• Scenarios for learning environments that mainstream learners with SEN, including the use of special schools as resource centres, leading to more integration of learners with SEN;• A significant increase in the number of online resources for SEN, leading to more uptake of these tools and materials on the Learning Resource Exchange;• A set of online learning modules easily embedded, translated and adapted and a community of practice, enabling teachers across Europe better to understand and practise integration of learners with SEN.
