“Speak Up!” was a Training Course aiming to raise awareness on the importance of Human Rights and social inclusion, to provide practical experience to youth leaders in these topics and to promote cross-cultural cooperation in finding practical and sustainable solutions for these issues at the local, national and international levels. 32 participants from Croatia, Romania, Portugal, Lithuania, Italy and Turkey were participated to this training course that took place in Nevşehir, Turkey between 28th of October to 4th of November 2015. The participants were active volunteers and youth leaders in the field of Human Rights and social inclusion. The minimum age of the participants were 18 years old and there were no upper age limit. Measures had been taken to ensure gender balance among the participants. A portion of participants were individuals with fewer opportunities. The main objectives of this training course were to familiarise the participants with the concepts of Human Rights and social inclusion. Furthermore, to familiarise the participants with the issues disadvantaged people face and to encourage the participants to share their knowledge, skills, experiences, ideas and best practices in an effort to find sustainable solutions towards discrimination. In addition, to encourage the participants to become active European citizens and take action in order to become part of the change. Furthermore, to foster intercultural learning, through a wide range of activities. Lastly, to create a successful international professional network among the participants and partner organisations. The activities that were carried out had been developed according to the non-formal education methods and include role-play, simulations, collage and campaign management. The activities had been carefully designed in order to correspond to the objectives of the training course. Each activity was followed by a discussion or a reflection session whereby the participants were gaining the opportunity to consolidate the knowledge and skills gained. The expected impact of this training course was the strengthening of the skills, knowledge and practical experience of the participants in the field of Human Rights and social inclusion, as well as to create youth workers who are well-equipped in order to introduce sustainable solutions towards fighting social exclusion of minorities. The participants have been became experienced on how to run successful campaigns, thus being able to bring about change at the local, national and international levels. Finally, this training course was the first step in an international Human Rights awareness raising campaign that we have begun in collaboration with our partners.
