Date du début: 1 nov. 2016, Date de fin: 31 oct. 2018 PROJET  TERMINÉ

We seek to take 24 IVT SCCB Students from disadvantaged backgrounds (aged 16-19) from Birmingham, on a 14 day work placement around the Electrical sector to Valencia. Spain, Participants will be taken in 2 flows of 12 and will be accompanied by SCCB Staff. Our project outcome is to ensure that these YP can after completion of the placements go on to find and sustain a learning, training or a work opportunity. Participants will be YP (aged 16-20) who are undertaking various types of courses at SCCB, that include:Diploma in Electrical Installation Level 1, 2 and 3Certificate in Electro-technical Technology Level 3 Employability Skills Level 1 (Problem Solving, Team work, Presenting Yourself / Coping with Change)Our YP will come from local communities from the Birmingham Area. Many of our YP will be from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds. These YP will have poor education and employment histories and be struggling to stay in education as a consequence of the withdrawal of the EMA as well as the current round of welfare cuts. We aim to attract both young males and females. Our project will be inclusive and open to all candidates that meet our selection criteriaSCCB - Lead and Sending Partner: As a consequence of other collaborative LDV mobility projects (Euro Mechanics) with local partners, SCCB is now keen to develop and manage our own vocational work placement project that can provide real value to our learners, by equipping them with real work related skills directly relevant to the qualifications/skills that they are seeking to develop. SCCB is eager to send students from the college to Spain to experience work in a different setting - that will develop all aspects of our YP. This will give them a head start in the labour market, because real work experience is something that our students currently lack with almost 35% of our college leavers unable to find work on completion of their courses.Host Partner: selected on the basis of our preparatory visit, its track record, it has managed and hosted a number of Leonardo Projects and Placements and is familiar with all the requirements of the programme (managing work placements, providing cultural activities, monitoring, practical support). XABEC is also able to provide our disadvantaged participants with state of the art work placement opportunities with large scale employers that are not available to our YP.What needs will be addressed?•Provide opportunity to capture and accredit practical skills in a work environment that can be used as part of the qualifications that YP are studying towards •Improve self-confidence/aspirations•Acquire employability and language skills, so they have a better chance of employment or further training •Independant Living Skills •Broaden the outlook of our YP - see themselves as mobile EuropeansThis project builds on our (and our YPs,) learning experiences from collaborative projects with our Euro Mechanics, Spark and Local to Global LDV projects which have highlighted the need to help students develop real work experiences that challenges them and builds their confidence to find and sustain real work opportunities as well as progress within their chosen careers. Evidence has shown from our IVT project that through a robust work placement all of our students found work or continued with their education and gaining the qualifications they sought. This IVT project will push our YP to learn and develop their skills by showing them what they can achieve as well as be able to live and work in a different environment.
