The Tourism and gastro Business is one of the most important ones for the economic region North Hesse around Kassel and Marburg in the center of Germany. Well skilled and trained vocational trainees are highly needed now and in the future. In 2007 the Chamber of Industry and Commerce launched a project called "Get skilled in spanish working life in hotel business." A group of trainees should go to Malaga for a four week internship to learn all about spanish working and living conditions. Main assets were and still are the skills in practising a foreign language, the increasing knowledge about the terms of working life in Spain and - very important - intercultural competence. For four hours each day they will study the spanish language at CILE language school and further on four hours of practising their business in the hotels. Before they can go on their exciting trip to Malaga they are selected and tested by the chamber's project manager by the terms of success in the vocational school and their company and some soft skills important for team building and the intercultural assets. In the end the Chamber of Industry and commerce expects an highly improved disposition for new influences in their daily business, the starting of life long interest in new develiopments in society, politics and in their business. And last but not least we all hope, that the experiences, the young people earnd in Spain will have some positive effects on the business services in our own region.
