Soy migrante: ciudadanía en movimiento
Date du début: 15 mai 2016, Date de fin: 14 mars 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The young people boosting and carrying out the project “Soy Migrante: ciudadanía en movimiento” (I'm a Migrant: citizenship on the move), have lived and live on their skin a series of issues and situations arising from the migration process and affecting every aspects of their working, social and personal life. The consequences and the impact of migration on young people take a completely different perspective when it comes to emigrants or immigrants since the starting point as well as the framework of their situation change dramatically. At the same time, to a certain extent, the problems faced by people on the move – doesn’t matter whether they immigrate or emigrate- are becoming more and more similar nowadays. On such basis, young people have identified a number of issues to work on in order to more fully understand the “migrant situation” and get to conclusions about all of the generating factors behind their condition: poor access to social services, loss of “rights and duties” as real citizens, limited access or shortage of means of participation, rootlessness, lack of leadership, difficulty for the personal development in multicultural nations for lack of integration and lack of prospects. The objectives we pursue are:To empower young people. To promote political participation of young people. To boost cooperation between political representatives, public administration staff, significant stakeholders and youth. To investigate issues of political and legal nature. To make new proposals that will improve the quality of life of young migrants and enhance their social integration. To promote intercultural dialogue. To create new opportunities to broaden the participation of any citizen. In order to achieve these objectives, 30 young people aged 15 to 30 will go through a long term process based on the Structured Dialogue. More specifically, such group will include 15 youngsters from Youropía cultural association, 10 young migrants from local organization active in such field and 5 more participants from youth organizations that promote mobility of not-associated young people.Within the implementation of the activity there will be a first general meeting where all the participants will get to know each other better and start to tackle the difficulties that young migrants face. In the same event, working groups (immigration, emigration, refugees, ways of participation ...) will be defined and set. These groups will meet twice (separately), to delve into the topics chosen, with the support of technicians and politicians. In a forth meeting, the conclusions of the working groups will be presented and discussed in plenary and the group will present such conclusions before regional politicians and MEP. Taking into account the on-going outcomes of the project (results of the working groups and an on-line survey) and the conclusions of this meeting, a document will be prepared to be sent to all the stakeholders involved as well as agencies, organizations, etc. at local, regional and national levels. In order to guarantee an effective flow, the meetings will rely on the work of a facilitation team that will streamline processes, make sure to include all the key elements of the project and, ultimately, help young participants reach their own conclusions.Likewise, in order to ensure a positive relationship among the participants and prevent (or properly work on ) any kind of culture-based conflicts, we’ll count on an inter-cultural mediator whose main responsibility will be to make sure that all the people involved feel safe so to express their opinions. In general, any process run with the support of the facilitation team will be carried out horizontally and will promote the use of non-formal education to let people "learn by doing".The whole process will be accompanied and enriched by the visibility campaign “Soy Migrante” (I'm Migrant) which will contribute to spread the initiative and the Programme. The presence of people linked to politics at different levels as well as technicians and experts (Youth department Of Oviedo City Council, Technical Advisor of “Somos Oviedo”, lawyers from “Asturias Acoge” association of immigrants, the former Vice Dean of the International department of the University of Oviedo, the Director of the Institute for Women and Youth Policies, Director of the Institute of Migration and Cooperation, a MEP of the PSOE, etc.) sets the basis for this project to reach a relevant and meaningful impact and, above all, to make the results of “ Soy Migrante” be included in a mainstreaming approach of immigration, youth and participation policies.
